After a 10-year
career as an actor and standup comedian, Roderick
Spencer (Co-Producer) began writing for the screen in 1991.
His first assignment was You Got That Right, a series of
educational films for PBS designed to teach at-risk youth practical
understanding of their citizenship rights. The series, which Roderick
wrote and co-produced, received two Emmy nominations and widespread
critical acclaim. It is still used as part of the curriculum in
thousands of high schools throughout the country. As a writer
Roderick has written and co-written several screenplays and is currently
prepping his feature directorial debut entitled Brown Sugar, a romantic comedy set at a college in the Rocky Mountains,
starring Alfre Woodard. Additionally,
Roderick is also a visiting lecturer at the Colorado College in Colorado
Springs where he teaches Writing for Performance. |
