On the heels of his performance in Naked City in 1948, John Randolph's film career was sideswiped when his name emerged on the now-infamous Hollywood Blacklist. It was the beginning of an era that would deny him employment in movies for the next fifteen years. But nothing could hold back the irrepressible Randolph. He stayed in New York and worked in theater—a safer haven for artists with less-than-popular political views—and when the climate of paranoia improved a little, he headed west and went back to work.

John's rich career encompasses too vast a range to list, but noteworthy credits include Seconds, Pretty Poison, Serpico, Heaven Can Wait, Prizzi’s Honor, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and You’ve Got Mail, as well as television appearances as varied as Bonanza, Hawaii Five-O, Night Gallery, M*A*S*H, Dynasty, Married…With Children, Roseanne, Touched by an Angel, and Seinfeld.

During the filming of The Dogwalker, John was also involved with the production of the 50th anniversary event, "Hollywood Remembers The Blacklist", and was an active member of the Screen Actors Guild Board of Directors, serving as a constant reminder and educator about this dark piece of recent history.

John passed away at his home on February 24th, 2004 of natural causes. He will be missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten.
