writer-director Paul Duran

When his first attempted film project collapsed a week before shooting, writer-director Paul Duran found himself taking his dogs for long walks around his urban Los Angeles neighborhood, lamenting his future and indulging in his fair share of self-pity. And just like that, the germ of THE DOGWALKER was born.

This is Duran's second feature as a writer/director. His first, FLESH SUITCASE, was picked up by Kushner-Locke and recently completed a theatrical run in Los Angeles. Subsequently it has played on the Sundance Channel, on Showtime and on The Movie Channel. Hailed as "...a shotgun wedding of early-Pinter austerity and Jim Thompson nihilism..." (Washington City Paper) and "...a Cassavetes-style improv in moody paranoia between two heroin dealers locked in hotel room..." (FilmThreat), the film played a year on the festival circuit, with stops at Slamdance, Berlin, Santa Barbara, Fort Lauderdale, Seattle and at Houston, where it won the bronze medal for drama.

Starting out as an assistant cameraman and special effects coordinator on low-budget horror films, Duran subsequently worked as an art director on music videos for such acts such as Tom Petty, Neil Young, Little Feat and Coolio. He also produced, directed and edited commercials and trailers for Cannon Films and has worked as a book editor and freelance journalist.

In addition to FLESH SUITCASE and THE DOGWALKER, Duran has also written O'KEEFE AND STIEGLITZ for producer Holly Palance and director Roger Spottiswoode, based on the tumultuous life and love affair of two of this century's greatest American artists and provocateurs.

His next project is THE SHARK, the darkly romantic story of a loan collector who falls in love with one of his clients
